PSA: that $90 cable toner saved my tail on a 737 yesterday
Been chasing a intermittent fault on a NAV antenna for two days, bleeding time on the ramp. Finally broke down and grabbed one of those Fluke toner kits with the probe. $90 at the supply house. Traced the line in 10 minutes, found a chafed spot behind a galley panel. That money paid for itself before lunch. How many hours do you guys burn on guesswork before you just buy the right tool?

Damn, that's the classic lesson right there. It's funny how we'll burn hours of our own time just to avoid spending a little cash upfront. Same thing happens with cheap tools at home, I've re-bought the same wrench three times before finally getting the good one. The pain of guessing always costs more than the fix, one way or another.
