I used to fight with old Cannon plugs for hours before I learned the trick with the dental pick

I was working on a Beechcraft King Air's nav system last month, and I spent almost three hours trying to get a stubborn connector apart, which my boss saw and just shook his head. He walked over, took a dental pick from his kit, slid it into the release slot I'd missed, and it popped right open (I felt pretty silly). How many other 'simple' tricks did you all learn way later than you should have?

Honestly though, is three hours even that bad for a stubborn connector?

Three hours? That's a full shift! Come on, you can't tell me you've never spent a whole afternoon on something dumb. Last week I watched a new guy fight a panel screw for 45 minutes because he didn't know about left-handed threads. We all have those days. The point is he learned it, and now he won't waste that time again. Sometimes you just gotta bang your head against the problem to really remember the fix.
