Warning: check your brake caliper bracket bolts after pads, mine backed out in 2 weeks
Finally did my own front brakes on my 2011 Civic in the driveway two Saturdays ago, and I caught something today that scared me. Pulled the wheels to rotate tires and one caliper bracket bolt was finger loose, the other was gone. I used blue thread locker on the guide pins but skipped it on the bracket bolts since the torque spec felt snug, and that was my mistake. Factory calls for 80 ft lbs on these, and I know I hit it, so the bolts must have stretched or I reused them when I should not have. New bolts from the dealer cost me $14 for all four and I am redoing both sides with red locker this time. Anyone else run into this, or am I the only one who skips the bracket bolts and pays for it later?
