Why I changed my mind about using open car carriers for long distance shipping
For years I only used enclosed transport for my cars, thinking it was the only safe way. Then last summer I had to ship a 2010 Honda Civic from Phoenix to Portland and the enclosed quote was $1,600 while open was only $850. I figured for a 14 year old daily driver it was worth the risk. The car arrived in perfect condition and I realized I had been overpaying for years on cars that didn't need the extra protection. Has anyone else found that open carriers are fine for most vehicles?

My buddy sent a 2002 Camry from Denver to Salt Lake on an open carrier and it showed up flawless.
