Noticed door-to-door carriers charging way less than online brokers in Nashville

I shipped a 2018 Civic from Nashville to Dallas last month and the broker wanted $1,200 but a local hotshot guy did it for $750 with zero hassle. Has anyone else seen this shift toward smaller carriers beating the big quote sites?

Man I feel that... paid $1,100 to ship my old F-150 from Denver to Atlanta last year through one of those big brokers and the whole thing was a mess. Driver showed up two days late and kept asking for more money. The little local guys probably just do it on the side and dont have to pay for all that fancy website traffic and customer service overhead. I bet my next truck I'll just find a dude with a trailer on Facebook Marketplace or something... feel kinda dumb for not thinking of it sooner honestly.

Respectfully gotta disagree with you @loganm52. Ngl, I tried a local guy once and he showed up with a busted trailer and no insurance paperwork. Big brokers can be a headache but they usually have some safety net if things go wrong.
