I finally stopped wrapping my car hauler straps the way my dad showed me
After snapping a ratchet strap on I-95 near Richmond last month, I tried a different knot from a trucker forum and now my load hasn't budged even on bumpy back roads - has anyone else found old ways just don't hold up anymore?

Wait hold on - you were still using the knot your dad showed you all this time? I just had to read that twice because I cannot believe anyone still uses those old-school wraps with the new heavy loads we haul today. My cousin blew out two straps last summer using his grandfather's method and ended up with lumber scattered across three lanes of 95 near Fredericksburg. I switched to a proper trucker's hitch with a dally after seeing a guy in a Peterbilt do it at a weigh station and honestly I've never looked back. Those old knots just weren't rated for the weight we're pulling now, the physics is completely different.
