Serious question, a dispatcher in Reno asked why I stopped calling brokers directly, and that day changed my whole shipping game
I used to call every broker myself to compare quotes for my cars, thinking I was getting the best deal. Then two winters ago I was at a truck stop outside Reno waiting on a carrier, and this old dispatcher named Ray asked why I was burning hours on the phone instead of using the online boards. He said I was wasting time and missing the real rates because brokers give walk ins the padded price. So I tested it. I pulled quotes from three different online comparison sites on my phone right there and two of them beat what my guy had been giving me by $150 to $300 per car. Since then I stopped calling around and just pull side by side rates on a couple of sites first, then call only the one that looks best. Saved me about $2,400 on my last six moves and way less time on hold. Anyone else notice the phone quote almost never matches what you see listed online? I want to know if that is just my area or a real pattern.
