Open deck vs enclosed shipping for an old Corvette, wish I checked sooner
I shipped my 1978 Corvette from Phoenix to Seattle last month and went with open carrier because it was $780 vs $1,450 enclosed. Midway through the trip I noticed the tracking showed a stop in Portland at a rail yard that had like zero covered storage. The car arrived with a cracked windshield and chip on the rear fender, probably from debris kicked up on I-5. The driver said open deck is routine but my paint was already flaky so I shouldve paid the extra. Has anyone else had a classic car damaged on an open carrier and argued for a partial refund?
