Halfway through a coast to coast haul, my enclosed carrier bailed
Booked an enclosed carrier from Nashville to Phoenix for a 67 Mustang. Paid $1,900 upfront. Day 4 the dispatcher calls, says their truck broke down in Oklahoma and they're canceling. No refund yet, just a claim number. Had to scramble and find an open carrier last minute for $1,400. Car arrived fine but with a door ding. Lesson learned: pay with a credit card that has trip protection, and always ask if they sub out to other drivers. Anyone else get burned by a broker canceling mid route? What do you ask before booking to avoid this?
