Got burned trusting the cheapest open carrier quote, now I pay for reviews
I picked a $950 open transport for my Civic from Dallas to Portland and the driver showed up 3 days late with a cracked windshield. The $1200 company I compared against had triple the ratings, and I learned my lesson. Anyone else find that paying a bit more for a broker with real customer feedback beats saving a hundred bucks?
Laughed at myself reading this because I did the exact same thing last spring, only mine was a Corolla and the "discount" carrier left it in a Walmart lot for two days before I even knew where it was. My husband still brings it up every time I try to save money on anything, so now I just smile and pay the extra hundred. The thing people miss is that those review pages actually tell you something, like whether the broker answers the phone when your car is sitting somewhere it should not be. A cheap price with no feedback is just a gamble with your car as the bet. You paid tuition on this one, same as I did.
