Dropped $310 on a "door-to-door" car move from Phoenix to Denver and my car sat in a lot for 9 days
I picked a broker that promised a straight door-to-door move for my Civic from Phoenix to Denver, and it turned out they just handed it to a carrier that parked it in a yard for 9 days before it moved an inch. The final bill came to $310 more than quoted because of a "long carry fee" nobody told me about until the driver showed up. Has anyone gotten a real door-to-door quote, or am I supposed to just expect a yard stop every time?

Phoenix to Denver is only like 800 miles and Denver is a huge drop spot so that long carry fee smells like they just wanted extra cash. Yards pull that move when they're short on drivers for the route and know you can't do much about it once the car is sitting there.
