Tried a $15 brake spoon vs a $60 caliper tool kit on a rusted 2011 CR-V and I'm honestly shocked
Last week a customer brought in a 2011 CR-V with rear brakes so rusted I couldn't get the piston to budge with my normal kit, so I grabbed the old spoon just to see. The spoon actually let me lever it back smooth in about 4 minutes while the fancy kit kept slipping and chipping the boot. So which is it, do you trust the cheap spoon on rusty pistons or is that just asking to tear a seal?
