TIL the average car on the road in the US is now over 12 years old

I read that stat in a trade magazine at the shop yesterday, and it honestly surprised me. I guess it explains why we're seeing more older vehicles with complex issues come through the bay lately. Has anyone else noticed a shift in the age of the cars you're working on?

Seems about right to me. Honestly feels like we're seeing more new cars than ever, all with those subscription features nobody asked for. The old stuff is just getting scrapped faster where I am.

Tell me about it, my neighbor just had to junk his old truck because the repair cost more than the thing was worth. Now he's stuck with a new payment and some app to warm the seats he'll never use. Makes you miss when a car was just a car, not a monthly bill on wheels.
