The harbor freight camber gauge changed how I check alignments

Used to just eyeball tire wear and hope for the best, took a customer's car to Firestone for an alignment and they showed me the printout. Picked up a $90 camber gauge and now I check every car before it leaves, caught three bad ball joints this month alone. Anyone else using one or still trusting the old string method?
