That customer who watched me work for 10 minutes before asking one question

Last March I had this guy come in with a 2006 Silverado, brakes grinding so bad you could hear him coming from the lot. I pulled the drum off and the shoes were down to the rivets, metal on metal. He stood right behind my shoulder the whole time, didn't say a word, just watched. After I showed him the scoring on the drum and quoted $240 for new shoes and a resurface, he finally goes, "So you're not just gonna slap new pads on and send me out?" That stuck with me because he'd been burned by a chain shop in Tulsa that did exactly that, and the drum cracked a month later. I told him that's why I pull everything apart first, and he ended up tipping me $40 and telling three of his buddies to come see me. Has anyone else had a customer watch them work like that and turn out to be the best referral source you've got?
