PSA: Picked a dewalt impact over a milwaukee for my daily driver
Last month at the shop I had to choose between a Dewalt 887 and a Milwaukee M18 Fuel for busting lug nuts on 18-wheelers. I went with the Dewalt because the trigger feel was smoother and it's held up to 40 torque jobs a day without a hiccup. Anyone else stick with a brand that most guys in the bay look down on?

My buddy still gives me crap for running a Dewalt on heavy trucks too... says I might as well be using a toy hammer. But hey, 4000 lug nuts later and that thing hasn't skipped a beat, so who's laughing now. I mean, sure, the Milwaukee guys look at me like I'm bringing a butter knife to a gunfight, but smooth trigger pull beats flexing about a tool you're sending in for warranty every three months. Call it the ugly stepchild of the toolbox, I guess... keeps the rust off my stuff while they're swapping batteries.

That butter knife comparison is spot on. Dewalt catches a lot of flack from the Milwaukee crowd but the real test is how many jobs it finishes. The 887 has that smooth trigger that makes a big difference when you're doing lug nuts all day. It just feels more controlled and predictable. People get hung up on specs and brand names instead of actual performance on the job. If a tool works for you day in and day out without breaking down, that's all that matters. The guys swapping batteries because theirs are in the shop aren't getting that same piece of mind.
