I used to torque every drain plug by feel, until the lube tech at my Dallas shop called me out
For years I just snugged drain plugs with a stubby ratchet and told myself tight was tight. Then Marcus, the 19 year old lube tech two bays over, watched me do it on a 2019 Silverado and said flat out that he had seen three pans come back stripped in his first 6 months, all from guys who "just felt it." We pulled out the torque wrench, set it to 18 ft lbs, and I have not had a single comeback leak or stripped pan since. Any of you still going by feel on plugs, or has everyone switched over?
