Had a week where every repair went smoothly - then Monday hit like a truck

Last spring I fixed 5 cars in a row without a single comeback or stripped bolt. It felt like I could do no wrong. Then this past Monday a 2015 Ford F-150 came in for a simple alternator swap and the bracket bolt snapped off inside the block. Took me 6 hours to extract it. Has anyone else had a streak like that where the good days make you forget how bad the bad ones can get?

Six hours to get a snapped bolt out of a Ford block? That's the kind of job that makes you want to sell your tools and take up gardening. I've never had one take quite that long, but I remember a Honda crank bolt that had me dreaming about extractor bits for two days. Those good streaks sure do lull you into a false sense of security.

I had a Toyota 2JZ crank bolt that made me wanna throw my whole box across the shop. Ended up using a left-hand drill bit set from Harbor Freight and some Kroil oil, soaked it overnight then drilled slow and steady. Came out like butter the next morning, saved me a ton of headache.
