Had a customer yesterday who changed how I think about brake jobs

Old guy in a 99 Silverado watched me do his pads and rotors, then said "you know it's not about the parts, it's about stopping before you even think about it." Made me realize I've been rushing through adjustment steps for years. Any of you guys take extra time on brake feel or am I overthinking it?

I read something once about how race teams spend hours just on pedal feel and brake modulation. They said the best brakes are the ones you don't even notice working. That old guy had a point though. I started taking an extra five minutes on the final bedding process and adjusting the pushrod on manual adjusters. It really does change how the truck stops, makes it feel like part of the road instead of fighting it.

Oh man you nailed it. That invisible brake feel is the holy grail right? Once you get the pushrod adjusted just right and the pedal feels like it's reading your mind instead of having a mind of its own, you can actually focus on the trail instead of worrying about the stopping. Have you noticed it makes panic stops way smoother too, like the brakes just know what you need before you do?
