Had a customer insist their oil change was fine for 10,000 miles
I work at a shop in Phoenix and this guy comes in with a 2015 Civic that's been running synthetic for 12,000 miles. When I pulled the drain plug, barely a quart came out and the rest was sludge. Told him he needed a full engine flush and new oil at $180 out the door instead of the $60 he wanted to spend. Anyone else deal with people who follow those extended oil life monitors like they're gospel?

Man's running on hopes and dreams at that point, not oil. 180 is a steal for keeping that engine from becoming a paperweight.

And that reminds me, my buddy in Flagstaff had a Subaru that he swore the oil life monitor was "learning his driving style" and he could push it to 15k. That thing started ticking like a sewing machine right before it spun a bearing on the I-17.
