A customer's simple question made me rethink my whole coolant flush process
A guy asked me last month why I never check the coolant cap seal during a flush. I told him it's just a cap, but he said his old truck kept overheating because a cracked seal let air in. I started checking them on every flush since then. Found 2 bad seals in the past 20 cars. It adds maybe 30 seconds to the job. Has anyone else had a simple part like a cap cause a comeback?

Oh man, that hits home... I once had a comeback for a rough idle that took me two hours to trace back to a loose oil cap. The customer just hadn't clicked it all the way shut after checking the level themselves. I felt so smart after all that testing... for a five second fix. Those little things will absolutely get you.

But come on, is a loose oil cap actually a big deal? It just lets a little unmetered air in. Seen way worse stuff ignored for years without a rough idle. Maybe some cars are just super sensitive to the smallest thing. What model was it even?
