A customer in my bay yesterday showed me a trick for stuck caliper pins I'd never seen
He was an older guy from Tucson who used to run a fleet garage, and he said 'son, just heat the bracket with a torch for ten seconds, then tap the pin with a brass punch.' I tried it on a 2015 F-150 that was fighting me, and the pin came right out. What's the oldest or smartest trick someone has shown you in the shop?

My uncle in Phoenix taught me that same trick on an old Silverado. It's saved me so many hours over the years. Some of those old school methods just work.

Honestly, that sounds like a great way to warp a bracket... heat makes metal expand, sure, but ten seconds with a torch is a recipe for messing up the temper or melting the rubber boot. I've always had better luck just soaking them in penetrant overnight and using a proper slide hammer.
