Why I stopped blending edges after one customer's comment

I used to always blend clear coat into the next panel, thought it was the only way to make a repair invisible. Last May a customer in Dallas pointed out that my blend line was visible under their garage LED lights three weeks after I finished their Camry door. They asked why I didn't just paint the whole panel since it was already $480 for the job. That made me rethink, now I quote full panel resprays when the factory finish has any metallic flake or pearl. It costs a bit more upfront but I've had zero callbacks about burn-through or ghosting since. Has anyone else had a straighten-and-blend repair come back to bite them later?
