Tried to fix a simple dent on a Honda Civic, three days later I'm still sanding

I had a 2018 Civic come in with a little door ding, figured I'd have it done in an afternoon... three days later I'm still chasing pinholes in my mud work. Turns out the previous owner had tried their hand at a DIY repair with some sketchy filler and it was all bubbling up underneath. Has anyone else ever inherited a nightmare repair from a customer who thought they could do it themselves?

Oh man, that's the worst kind of surprise - finding out someone else's hack job is now your problem. I've had a few of those where you peel back the tape and find bondo so thick it could double as a boat hull. Makes you wish there was a way to scan a car's paint history before you even start.

Used to think a paint thickness gauge was just a toy, but now I won't touch a car without one.
