That old customer Frank taught me more about filler work in 5 minutes than YouTube did in 5 years
He showed me how to feather the edge of a repair with a worn down block at his shop in Portland, and now I don't have to sand twice on every panel - has anyone else had a veteran just casually drop a game-changing trick on you?

Read a Body Shop News article that mentioned how old-timers have secret techniques not in any manual.

Gotta disagree a little here, @kelly338. Those "secret techniques" are almost always just the result of doing the same job for 30 years and figuring out what works through trial and error. Frank probably didn't even think of it as a secret, he just knew that worn block grabs the edge differently than a new one. YouTube has its place for showing the basics and modern products, but it can't replicate the feel of a hand guiding a block at just the right angle. The real value of watching a veteran is seeing how they adjust their pressure or change their approach based on the specific dent or panel, not some hidden trick. Most old timers I've met just have way more muscle memory and instinct than any video can teach.
