Switched from a DA sander to a Hutchins 3800 on a 2006 Silverado and stopped chasing halo scratches
I have been blocking hoods by hand for years and always ended up with little pigtails I had to chase. Last week I borrowed a Hutchins 3800 from a guy at the shop down the street in Garland and sprayed a base coat clear on a 2006 Silverado hood with way less trash in my final pass. The DA just could not get into the crown right, and the Hutchins kept the paper flat and moved the dust out instead of grinding it back in. My arm was less sore too, which mattered because I did two doors and a fender after that. Anybody running a different orbital for this kind of cut that holds up better on curved panels?
