Shoutout to the guy who fixed my dent with a hairdryer

Had a nasty crease on my Ford F-150 rear quarter panel. Body shop quoted me $1200. Guy at the gas station said to heat it up with a hairdryer and push from behind. Did it in 10 minutes. Anyone else ever get a weird tip that actually worked way better than expected?

Heat expands metal and makes it more flexible, same reason you can pop a dent in a plastic bumper with boiling water. I've noticed most expensive "fixes" are just people not knowing the simple hack. Like how you can remove a broken lightbulb with a potato, or unstick a zipper with a pencil. The real skill is knowing when the dumb trick actually works versus when you need the pros.
