Told me to use a finer grit on the blend and keep the gun at 12 inches instead of my usual 8, and that spot came out way smoother than any of my old attempts, anyone else have a family member who somehow knows better than the techs?

Right, but was the 12 inch distance actually the game changer or was it the finer grit doing the heavy lifting? I've always thought gun distance is more about controlling the dry edge than the actual finish quality. Curious if you tried his method on a test panel first or just went straight to the real repair.
