Is refinishing a whole panel really faster than blending? I made the switch on a Silverado
I used to spot blend every scratch that touched a body line, but last month on a 2018 Silverado door I tried just shooting the whole panel. Took me about 40 extra minutes with masking and prep, but I didn't have to chase the metallic ghosting at the edges like I always do with blends. My painter buddy swears the blend is the only professional way, says customers will notice the clear coat line eventually even with the best fade. But the factory finish on that door came out dead flat, no mottling, and I've had zero callbacks. So which camp are you in, whole panel or blend, and what's your cutoff for panel size or paint type?

The dead flat finish on that Silverado says it all, good call.
