Debated using a DA vs an orbital sander on that tricky quarter panel
Spent last Saturday trying to smooth out a 2005 Civic quarter panel and went back and forth between a DA and a cheap orbital sander I had lying around. The orbital kicked up dust everywhere and left swirl marks I had to fix anyway, while the DA just glided through it clean. Has anyone else tried switching tools on a repair and regretted not going with the better option from the start?

You ever notice how that just carries over into everything? Same way I see guys at the gym grab the cheap gear or skip the warmup. You end up spending twice the time fixing mistakes instead of just doing it right once. I learned that lesson the hard way on some floor work last year. Picked the wrong tack cloth, got fuzz stuck everywhere, had to sand it all back down.

@ryan_flores you got that right, but I gotta say tack cloth fuzz is a different beast than swirl marks from a cheap orbital. That orbital spins way too fast and leaves that haze because the pad isn't balanced right. A DA with a soft pad will take almost any panel down smooth without digging in. Just gotta match the pad to the curve you're working.
