DAE find that a cheap garden sprayer works better than a detail gun for getting undercoat into tight frame cavities?

I was fighting with a rattle can trying to get rust converter into the rocker panel on my '97 F-150 last weekend. After about the third time the straw popped off and shot fluid all over my arm, I grabbed my old $12 pump sprayer from the garage. Diluted the stuff a bit, pumped it up, and it laid down a perfect coat into every little pocket without any overspray mess. Has anyone else tried using something like that for cavity wax or seam sealer?

@fiona_reed yeah same thing happened to me last month. I tried a different approach by testing it on a spare piece first and it saved me from ruining the whole project. Have you tried that method yet?
