Chose a $120 aftermarket bumper bracket over the dealer part and now the gap is driving me nuts
So I had a 2019 Civic in the shop two weeks ago with a rear hit and the customer was paying out of pocket, which always makes the parts call harder. The dealer bracket was $310 and the aftermarket one was $120, and I stood there in the office for a good ten minutes going back and forth on it. I went with the cheap one because the guy was already stressed about money and I figured a bracket is a bracket, right? Wrong. Bolted it up and the bumper cover sat about 3/16 of an inch low on the passenger side, enough that you can see it in the reflection under the taillight. I spent an extra hour and a half shimming and tweaking and it got better but not right. I had to call the customer and explain why the gap was off, which is my least favorite phone call in this whole trade. Has anyone found an aftermarket brand that actually lines up on these Civics or am I just eating the $310 next time?

Pretty sure that bracket is the same one on both sides.
