Can we talk about using a heat gun on those stubborn vinyl decals

Had a 2008 Civic in the shop last week with a huge sun-faded dealer sticker on the rear window... the usual scraper and adhesive remover wasn't even making a dent. On a whim, I grabbed my Milwaukee heat gun, set it to about 350 degrees, and gently warmed the edges for maybe 30 seconds. The whole thing peeled off in one piece without leaving any glue behind. Has anyone else found a sweet spot for the temperature so you don't risk cracking the glass?
