Why does everyone in Atlanta recommend the same 3 plumbers on Nextdoor

I've used 5 different plumbers in the last 2 years across Decatur and Brookhaven, and the ones people always hype up charge double and take 3 days to show. The small solo guy I found did a slab leak repair for $850 less than the popular one and finished in one morning. Anyone else find a hidden gem contractor or am I just lucky so far?

Found a guy in Chamblee who fixed my water heater for half what the big names quoted.

And heres the thing nobody talks about - those big companies usually send out sales guys who work on commission, not actual plumbers. So theyre upselling you on a whole new unit when all you needed was a thermocouple or a $20 part. The independent guys actually fix stuff instead of pushing replacements. My buddy paid $800 for a "emergency service" call on a Sunday and it was literally just a reset button. Stick with the small shops that dont have a fancy van payment to make.
