Warning: That $40 tree removal quote on Nextdoor nearly cost me my fence in Brookhaven
Took me three weeks and two different crews to fix the damage from a guy who showed up with a rope and a chainsaw, has anyone else dealt with these unlicensed tree services popping up everywhere?

This is happening everywhere now, not just with tree work. Seems like every week I see someone on Nextdoor advertising pressure washing, lawn care, or handyman stuff with just a phone number and a grainy photo. They show up cheap but have no insurance and no real training, so when something goes wrong you're stuck paying for the fix yourself. That $40 savings turns into a $400 headache real quick.

Ugh YES this is such a cliché but I literally learned this lesson the hard way LOL. Last summer I hired some guy off Facebook Marketplace to clean my gutters because he was like half the price of everyone else. He showed up late, did a sloppy job, and then my downspout was completely clogged a week later. Had to pay a real company $300 to fix it plus clean it again. So yeah, I'm basically the poster child for "cheap is expensive" now 😂
