TIL that my bug guy in Decatur actually taught me how to keep ants out for free
So I had my quarterly pest visit on Tuesday, and the guy, Marcus, has been spraying my place for about 2 years now. He finished up and instead of just handing me the bill, he sat on my porch for ten minutes and explained that most of what I was doing to keep ants away was making it worse. I had been spraying that store brand ant killer along my baseboards every few weeks, and he said that just kills the scouts and scatters the rest, so they keep sending more. He told me to follow the trail back to where they come in and use a gel bait instead, like the kind you can grab at Home Depot for 8 bucks, so they carry it back to the colony. Then he said to seal the gap under my kitchen sink with caulk because that's where they were getting in the whole time. I did all of it Saturday morning and I haven't seen a single ant since, and honestly I feel a little dumb for paying for sprays for so long. Has anyone else had a service person give them free advice that made their paid service almost pointless?
