Rented a Bosch router instead of buying a DeWalt and it went fine

Everyone told me I was crazy for renting a Bosch router for my kitchen cabinet project instead of buying the DeWalt, but after 3 days of work it did the job perfectly and saved me $180, so has anyone else found renting beats buying for one time projects?

I actually read a pretty good breakdown on a woodworking blog that said Bosch and DeWalt routers are pretty much neck and neck in terms of performance for stuff like trim work and basic edge routing. It's not like one is way more reliable than the other for most people, @eva_gibson. Still, renting can be a solid way to test drive a tool before you drop serious cash on it. My neighbor swears his DeWalt has lasted ten years with zero issues, but I've also heard stories about the collets on some being finicky. So really, you got lucky with a good rental and it worked out fine. Your mileage may vary if you buy one and use it every day, you know?
