Neighbor at the Johnston Rd cookout said he knew every house on our street when it was all dirt lots

We were standing in his driveway off Johnston Rd last weekend and he pointed at my place and said he watched it get framed back in 1987 for $62,000. He rattled off who lived in the Fletcher house, the blue one on the corner, going back three owners before us. I have been here 11 years and I barely know the folks two doors down. Back then he said everybody on the block split one lawn mower and loaned each other ladders without asking. Now we have a group text nobody posts in except when a package goes missing. I keep thinking about how he knew every family by name and I know maybe four. Does anybody on here actually know their whole street, or is that just gone for good?
