My water heater died on a Sunday morning in Decatur

Woke up to cold water last Sunday around 7am. No hot water for showers before work. Found water pooling around the base of my 12 year old Rheem in the basement. Called three plumbers, all wanted $300 just to come look. Ended up renting a truck from Home Depot and hauling a new one home myself. Took about 6 hours with help from a YouTube video and a buddy who works construction. Has anyone else had to emergency replace a water heater on a weekend?

Wait, 12 years? That's rough, are you already dealing with hot water issues? I feel for you because mine went out at 11 years and it was such a headache to deal with the cold showers before we got it replaced. Had to use a camp shower setup for a weekend, not fun at all.
