Just found out my property tax bill was wrong for three years because I never checked the county's square footage record.

I got my annual notice from Fulton County last week and decided to actually look at the details for once. Turns out, they had my house listed at 2,400 square feet, but it's really only 2,150. I called the tax assessor's office and they said I have to file an appeal with proof. I've been overpaying by about $450 a year, so that's over $1,300 total. Has anyone else in Atlanta had to fix a mistake like this with their tax records?

Honestly, that's on you for not checking sooner. The county has thousands of properties to track, mistakes happen. You should've been looking at your tax breakdown every year.
