I finally dropped $600 on a new water heater after mine burst at 2am
Standing in ankle-deep water at 3am, calling a plumber who charged me $150 just to show up, totally regret waiting on that $400 inspection last year - anyone else ignored the rusty tank signs until it was too late?

oh man the "just show up" fee is brutal, i had that same thing when my AC died in august. the rusty tank thing is such a classic move we all pull. its like we think if we ignore the problem long enough itll just fix itself but it never does. thats honestly how half of adulting feels to me - you keep putting off the small annoying fix until it turns into a huge emergency that costs way more and ruins your whole day. i swear every single person i know has at least one story about ignoring a weird sound or a little leak for months and then paying triple later.

Yeah I used to be one of those people who thought it was smarter to wait and see if things got worse. Figured why pay for something that might be fine. But after my water heater started making this weird knocking sound for like 3 months straight and I just ignored it, it finally burst and flooded half my basement. Cost me like 4 grand in repairs and new drywall. That $200 service call would have saved me a lot of headaches. Totally changed how I look at stuff now.
