HOA vs fence repair: My neighbor's tree fell on my side and now what
So last month during that big storm in Decatur, my neighbor's old oak tree came down and smashed a 12 foot section of my backyard fence. I called my HOA to ask about insurance or reimbursement, and they said it's my problem since the fence is inside my property line. But my neighbor says 'act of god' so both our insurances are pointing fingers. Who's supposed to cover this kind of thing in an Atlanta neighborhood with an HOA? Has anyone else dealt with a neighbor's tree damaging your fence and got it sorted?

Wait, your neighbor called it an 'act of god' and walked away? Around here in Gwinnett that excuse doesn't hold up if the tree was rotten or dying. Had a similar thing happen last spring. My neighbor's dead pine came down on my shed. Their insurance ended up covering it because the tree was clearly sick for years. Maybe check if that oak had any dead branches or fungus before the storm. That changes everything.

Wait, @noah_rivera57 is right - my friend had the same thing and their neighbor's insurance paid after an arborist checked.
