That week I spent every night looking at Jupiter through my neighbor's telescope
Last July my neighbor Carl set up his 8-inch Dobsonian in his driveway for a whole week straight. I was coming home from my shift at 2 AM and he'd still be out there, so I started stopping by. He showed me Jupiter's bands and four of its moons every single night, and each time it looked slightly different because of the rotation. What really got me was how the Great Red Spot moved across the face over those nights, it made me feel like I was watching a clock in the sky. Has anyone else had a moment where seeing a planet night after night changed how you look at the stars?

Yeah honestly I used to think it was just a bright dot. That changed my mind completely.
