That "just boost the exposure" advice ruined my Andromeda shot
Some guy on a Facebook group told me to crank exposure to 30 seconds on my untracked mount. Ended up with star trails and a blurry mess. Anyone else get burned by bad processing tips from randoms?

Yeah, did they also tell you to just "stack it in post" too? lol. I fell for the same thing when I started, ended up with a bunch of garbage data I couldn't do anything with. What actually worked for me was sticking to the 500 rule for untracked shots, so like 10-13 seconds max on a wide lens, and then just taking like 200 frames and stacking them in DSS. You still get trails if you go longer, trust me I learned that the hard way. Stacking a bunch of shorter exposures actually cleans up the noise way better than one long blurry shot anyway.

Did you read that NASA article about star stacking too?
