Stacking 200 lunar shots gave me a weird fringe I fixed by accident
I've been messing with moon photos for a couple months now, just using my DSLR on a tripod. Last week I stacked about 200 frames in free software and got this purple edge along the bright side, thought my setup was toast. Turned out it was chromatic aberration from my cheap telephoto lens, and I fixed it by just applying the lens profile in my editor, didn't even change the stack. Now I'm wondering if anyone else skips stacking and just uses a single sharp frame, or if the extra work is always worth it? That fringe drove me nuts for a full evening.

Same thing happened to me, the purple edge is just the lens being cheap. I gave up on stacking after that and got better results with one sharp frame and a good edit, way less headache.
