So I totally mixed up Venus and a streetlight in my last photo

I mean, I was so proud of my new telescope shot until my buddy pointed out it was just a lamp down the road. Idk, maybe it's just me but I guess I need to learn the sky better before I post stuff. What's the silliest mistake you've made when taking astro pics?

Last year I tried to photograph the Andromeda galaxy and ended up with a really blurry picture of a street sign. It happens to everyone. I see this same thing with people trying to learn guitar or cook a new recipe, they get so hung up on the small mistakes. The real skill isn't avoiding the mix-up, it's learning how to laugh it off and try again tomorrow. That's the only way any of us get better at anything.

Tbh, 'we all start somewhere' and every mix-up teaches you more about the sky.

Honestly thought needing perfect gear was the main thing for astro photos, but your post kinda changed my mind. I'm way less stressed about messing up now, we all start somewhere.
