PSA: I almost lost a whole night's work because I didn't check the weather

I used to just pack my gear and head to my usual spot by Lake Tahoe without a second thought. Last month, I drove three hours only for a sudden fog bank to roll in at midnight, ruining my planned shots of the Andromeda galaxy. Now I check three different forecast apps, including Clear Outside, for the exact coordinates up to 48 hours ahead. Has anyone else had a close call like that and found a better way to predict local conditions?

You think that's bad? I once drove out to Joshua Tree, saw a perfect clear sky on every app, and set up my tracker. An hour later, a dust storm blew in from nowhere. I spent the next morning cleaning fine sand out of every single piece of gear. It was in the lens focus ring. I'm basically a walking weather station now, checking satellite loops, humidity maps, you name it.
