Pointed my DSLR at Orion for 20 minutes and got a purple glow I still can't explain
Last Tuesday I set up my old Canon on a tripod in the backyard, no tracker, just 15 second shots stacked in free software. Total exposure was around 20 minutes because I kept tossing frames when a neighbor's porch light popped on. When I stacked the good ones, the whole left side of the frame had this soft purple haze that wasn't in any single shot. I checked my lens for dew, nothing, and the sensor was clean. Turns out it was amp glow from the camera warming up during the long run, something I'd read about but never actually seen. Now I take dark frames at the same temp and stack those in, and the haze is gone. What's your go to trick for chasing down weird color casts in stacked shots?
