My buddy the physics teacher said I've been doing star stacking all wrong for years

He showed me how his method cuts noise way better than my old way, and now I'm wondering if I need to go back and reprocess all my photos from last summer's Perseids shoot.

Wait, hold on - you've been doing star stacking wrong for YEARS? That's a gut punch, man. I've been using the same basic stacking method since I got my first DSLR, thinking I had it all figured out. So your buddy the physics teacher showed you a completely different way? That's wild. What kind of tricks did he show you that cut the noise that much? I'm seriously rethinking my whole workflow now.

My buddy the physics teacher once explained that stacking isn't just about aligning stars. He showed me how to use a median combine instead of average to kill the hot pixels dead.
