My 500th processed image was of the Veil Nebula, and it made me rethink everything

I always thought more data was better, but that image hit a wall of noise after 12 hours of exposure. It taught me that quality of seeing matters more than sheer quantity. Has anyone else hit a point where their usual method just stopped working?

Yeah, I hit that same wall with the North America Nebula. I switched to taking shorter subs on nights with better transparency and the difference was huge. Sometimes you just have to change the recipe.

Totally agree, had the same issue with the Heart Nebula. Dropped my subs from five minutes to ninety seconds on a clear night and finally pulled the faint stuff out without blowing out the core.
